Author and fitness expert Bill Phillips is most widely known for his best-selling book Body for Life. Bill has been helping people for more than 20 years and has been featured on media outlets around the world. Transformation Solution Program is his latest work, which he says is the result of his efforts to “delve deeper into the nature of what true transformation is all about.”
After reading this book I have to say that Bill has done a lot more than just delving—he’s really put together a comprehensive guide to that shows you how to completely transform your life. The entire premise of his approach in Transformation Solution Program is making use of the science behind the mind-body connection. In talking about his latest book Bill sums up his entire approach to transformation in three lines: “The Mindset You Need, The Body You Want, The Life You Deserve.”
You can see early on that this is not just another ‘get fit’ book. Although the overall focus of the book is getting fit, Bill strongly believes that lasting change goes deeper than just the body. In order to achieve a true, sustainable transformation you need to employ a multi-pronged approach that includes the mind and the spirit too. Bill says that by following the plan he’s outlined in this book, not only can you achieve the body you’ve always wanted but you’ll lead a happier, more satisfying and fulfilling life. He certainly caught my interest with that statement.
After reading Transformation Solution Program I have to say that Bill has done an excellent job of getting his message across to the reader. I especially like the way he opens by presenting a number of examples of regular people who have successfully reshaped their lives—and bodies—using Bill’s transformational approach. In particular, I appreciate the fact that he uses ordinary everyday people—not super buff fitness models—to demonstrate that his program really works. For me it helps him to connect with his readers and show them that if these folks can do it, they can too, if they apply themselves.
As you progress through the book it quickly becomes clear that Bill is not presenting an effortless ‘magic bullet’ that is going to change your body and your life overnight. To achieve the kind of results the people he shows in the book have obtained, it will require commitment and effort. There are a number of steps involved in the transformation process, the first of which is to identify the goals you hope to achieve. This is a bit more complex than it seems because your chosen goals must be SMART (specific, measurable, attainable realistic and timely). Once you have your goals in place you can begin the program starting with proper nutrition and exercise.
Bill nicely lays out clear guidelines for following both the training and nutrition components of the program. Regarding nutrition, Bill advocates eating six meals a day that include seven key nutrients. He also shows you how to create your own nutrition plan to fit your fitness/weight loss goals and your lifestyle. Resistance training with weights is also a core part of the program, as is interval cardio training. For those of us who like to know the ‘why’ behind his suggestions, he includes references to scientific research demonstrating why his ideas will work.
As I mentioned earlier Transformation Solution Program really spotlights the connection between your mind and your body and how simultaneously improving the two can lead to lasting change in both. This only makes sense because everything about us starts from within. The only real way to transform your body and sustain the results is to change your lifestyle. How can you expect to bring about sustainable change in your body if you don’t do anything to improve your mind and spirit? Ignore these and before you know it, you’re back to your old habits and ways and the results you worked so hard for are disappearing.
At more than 250 pages, Bill’s book isn’t something that you’re going to read in a day and implement tomorrow. Real transformation requires that you develop positive habits, change your mind set to focus on success, commit to achieving your goals, learn from your mistakes and develop the will power to face anything. That’s a lot to swallow so be forewarned, if you’re not prepared to make a commitment and follow through with Bill’s program, you won’t achieve results like the subjects presented in the book. Achieving a true transformation takes commitment, discipline and resolve—but if you feel you’ve got what it takes, then Transformation Solution Program might be just what you need to not only transform your body, but you’re life too.
